Process
Weaving for me is a way to capture the fleeting moment of spectacular light and texture of the natural world and impressions seen, heard, felt without a photograph or painting. All of these images float in my subconscious, enter my dreams, drift into my sketchbook, and with luck become a new, organic-like form. What I find most surprising when looking at a completed design, I can see how my emotions play a part in the looseness or tension of the strands and recognize the materials have their own ingrained behavior and memories too. I know when the last knot is tied what I was thinking, remembering or experiencing. In the end, I hope the meditative and transformative process is positive for myself as well as the others who see or feel the final form.
